ZERO PLUSZ ACADEMY, BUDAPEST
I have been part of this dance studio for 8months learning 5days a week dance classes such as Ballet, Martha Graham, Afro, Floorwork, Skinners Release, Contemporary as well as Somatics and Pilates. This constant training has improved my awareness in movement, improved my technical capabilities, and allowed me to start using movement consciously in my creations which once a month we had the opportunity to show our work in progress.
In the time part of this studio I have found a lot of creative freedom in writing short stories and later try to develop them as performances. Everyday used as well to walk to the studio allowing my duties as visual artist to expand by taking feelings of what was happening in the street to the studio. Working in a group as well has been very vital and giving feedback to the others. During this training I had to as well accept that I am quite a slow learner and have difficulties in coordination of movement especially when there is set choreography and often get lost in the steps.
Using my skills as well as a photographer I have created a small project called 'Destroy the Studio' using whatever props has been found in the studio and creating still images out of movement with others whilst playing loud music and enjoying being in the company of others and improvising.
Below is some of my diary extracts from my walks in the city before going to the stdio.
i flew to budapest
under a bright full bodied moon
and around one tiny little star
on the plane i made a promise to the galaxies
i knew that my teacher is
going to be the ballet one
and that we need to
become friends
we need to make more space for movement
continuously
space
foetal pose is the homeless pose i see crunching up every morning in safety
coins are continuously being counted
is the studio a fairy tale
something about the bridge
the bridge as my political space
people cross barefoot
people cross in heels
people cross in trainers
people cross in high brands people cross in charity soles
but the all crossing
but they all moving
in different places
at different paces
for different reasons
sore muscles
disturbed body
occupied mind
confused functionality
through all this different
breathing methods
and invisible working muscles
doing the minimalist
protests under
all abused layers of my skin
the interior of this body
is designing a new landscape
the one u can only feel
the one u will never see
