MY BODY IS NOT

UR BUSINESS CARD

MUZA (NATIONAL ART MUSEUM  MALTA), VALLETTA, 2023

“Does it matter if you sing well or look well or draw well or dance well or pose well or create well enough – does it matter to the museum or to the Instagram post, and does it matter to the audience?”

“Who makes things matter? Who has the power? My body (is not) your business card!”

“The given space in Muza has been changed into a living room space rather than an institutionalised spot, to host the co-creation opportunities between bodies through the mediums of voice, movement, reading, drawing, and sharing the space together.Collaborators on the project included others from all walks of life: dance, activism, architecture, singing, and painting, and where their interests in their art practice has been shared and swapped.

'My Body (Is) (Not) Ur Business Card',  two consecutive Saturdays fulfilled with performance photography and live performances has been hosted, both as a solo artist and showing the collaborative work with the participants who that have been with me since the start of the residency.

On 6th May, 2023, the group had presented 'Queenie' and a solo piece 'Confession to Queen Elizabeth'. The space has been transformed into a photographic exhibition whilst on the 13th of May, the group has presented the final works through a Walk of Shame',  hosting performances:  'Sendikajri', '2Become1 Saloon', 'DialXXX' and 'Walk of Shame', giving space for all the collaborators to perform altogether.

Participants included: Etienne Farrell, Maria Sammut, Bobb Attard, Judith van der Made, Deborah Falzon, Sarah Vella, Diellza Illgner, Wiebksplace, Rachelle Deguara, Sarah Portelli, Ghagel Dingli, David Grech and Claire Farrugia and more of the community who kept popping in and out of the community space with ideas or proposals. A very complex timetable has been designed to try to accomodate the different working hours of the different participants.
