COUNTDOWN

CO CREATION WITH SINGER GUADALUPE. 

 

Gegwigija is a pop-up library events sharing books/performances on ecology, queerness, decolonisation. For the occasion of their yearly running, I have written a poem (as seen below) and wrote a short script of a performance 'Comedown Countdown'. Since the event took place on the 29th December and the venue of RosaKwir, Balzan have stairs, I immediately was withdrawn to using the idea of a New Year countdown 10-1 and verbalise issues of how some humans behave on occasions such as New Year. The numbers were in the form of someones night out - from the moment they put on the dress to when they return back home after a night out. The images below show further each step. Afterwards, there is the sound of vomit - like life out- and Guadalupe start singing the poem written by me about the connection of the earth being worn out as a dress. At the end Guadalupe sings a song she has written - where the energy of her voice and her sounds makes me rebirth again.
